The Old Fashioned Dinner - Family time
(118)To me, it seems odd that many families don’t eat dinner together any more. The idea of everyone sitting down together to eat seems like something that’s either old fashioned or saved only for special occasions. For me, it seems like that unless there is something urgent to get done or things are really rushed or someone is sick, etc, it’s good for a family to sit down together to eat. But I guess it all really depends on how you’re raised. Now, though, one idea to get your family together for dinner is to turn on a TV show that you all like and use tv stands or tv trays and eat while you’re watching the movie!!
Family Plauge - ACNE
(120)Not ACME, but ACNE ![]()
This seems to run in our family. Me, my sister, my mom, my dad, etc. This is what really causes me to think that acne is hereditary - that’s not to say that back when it was plaguing us we didn’t use any acne treatment, because the treatment will still help quite a bit. However, I don’t think it’s fair that the common misconception is that people with acne just don’t wash their faces - I remember when it was at it’s worst, I was using medicine, oils, medicated face wipes, soaps, etc. And it still kept coming back.
Luckily for us though, this hereditary type of acne seems to go away around the age of 20!
__ Years Ago
(203)With the new year swiftly approaching, I think it’s a good time to look back and see what I was doing a few years ago, what my life was like, etc. So now, let’s do that. I’ll pick out one thing I remember off of the top of my head from that time.
I was a new addict to Guitar Hero. I was determined to work my way completely through all the songs on medium, including TTFATF.
The Wii had just been released, and I was playing it a lot. I’m a big video game fan, as you can probably see.
I was visiting with family out of town, and I believe we got a good snow this time around as well.
Family came in, and they had a new puppy. A very cute puppy
5 Years Ago
I think it was at this point that the Nintendo DS had first commanded my attention, and I was playing it quite a bit at this time.
A family wedding was less than a year away, they may have already been starting to plan on wedding invitations and stuff like that.
Eh, let’s stop here for now. =P
Various Media Receptor/Organizers
(115)So, which of these do you use? Chances are, you probably have one of these, especially if you’re one who likes to stay up to date technologically.
First up - the TiVo. This nice little box allows you to record various shows off of television and then watch them later; at that point, you’re also able to fast forward through commercials, pause, etc. You can also pause live television if you have to step out of the room for a second!
Secondly, the DVR. This may be similar to the Slingbox or the TiVo, but it usually is something that is packaged in with your television service provider.
What type of media organizer do you use?
Durable Luggage
(117)I’m actually just recently off the road from a long trip. A trip like this really reinforces just how important it is to have durable luggage!! When you have tons of luggage packed into a van, you might need to get to some of it while you’re on the road. I mean, it’s all accessible, seeing as there is no trunk and all. If it’s not very durable, it might break and spill out everywhere, or split and cause the luggage on top of it to slide around. If you have something durable like Swiss Army luggage, you probably won’t have to deal with that problem. Make the initial investment, it’s worth it in the long run!
Christmas Poem - Quirky But Oh Well :)
(86)The sun comes up, it’s Christmas Day
All the young kids shout hooray
They rush down to their christmas tree
to see what the presents there could be.
The old kids, as we like to say
enjoy a different part of Christmas day
It isn’t to say that they don’t like the toys;
the ping pong paddles or the english saddles,
the spinning tops or the gumdrops…
but there’s a deeper joy there
that grows in with age
a joy in family and loved ones
where the true value of life
remains.
I’m not a very good poet. ![]()
Food Strategies
(97)When it comes to losing weight, many people prefer to use medication or weight loss pills such as Fenphedra or something else along that line. Others like to use programs that involve a mix, such as Alli. Some, still, prefer to do a weight watchers type program that doesn’t involve any pills, just diet control. Even if you do not choose to involve a mix in the program/solution that you pick, you should watch your food intake. Food intake, in addition to any weight loss pill, will do more than just the weight loss pill by itself.
Family Vacation - to Las Vegas?
(135)I recently read about the idea of “family vacations to las vegas” which struck me as kind of odd. I mean, I’m sure not all of the town has the bad reputation that goes along with the name, but it still seems to be a bit weird for a vacation with children. Most of the las vegas hotels seem to be geared towards people who have the right to gamble. I guess there are a few hotels geared towards families with small children - but what about people with kids aged 12 to 17? Interestingly enough, there is apparently a hotel with a theme park on top, so I guess that fills in the 12 to 17 age gap I was wondering about. Just goes to show, you cant judge a book by it’s cover!
Conehead Dog!
(116)If any of you out there own a dachshund, you probably know that during the late part of the summer through mid fall, they have a tendency to chew on themselves. And some years, it gets so bad that they have to wear a cone in order to keep them from chewing themselves raw! It’s really an odd problem. Luckily, there are plenty of pet supplies available to counter this problem - cones, sprays, and other medication. It also helps to give the dog a bath in a moisturizing solution in order to enrich their skin. Hopefully, after a few months (it takes quite a while) they’ll be able to roam around cone free again!
Non-Targeted Ads
(139)If you’re a webmaster buying ads for your website, it may be tempting to go for non-targeted ads. They’re usually a lot cheaper than targeted ads, and it seems like you’re ad will show up much faster on a wider range of sites. That’s all good, right? Well, only if your service/product is also non-targeted, which is rarely the case. For example, would you want a girls purses ad to display on a boys mountain bike website? Also, if you are a webmaster, you may reconsider placing non-targeted ads on your website. For one thing, they pay you less! For another thing, what if your site is targeted to people in their mid-20’s. Would an ad for incontinence products really serve your customers?
With ad services that are contextual or targeted, you should have an obvious best choice. ![]()
